LighChat Content Moderation Policy
Last updated: 2026-05-07 Applies to: all user content in the LighChat Service.
1. Principles
LighChat does not moderate private and group chats in real time, respecting the right to confidentiality of communications (Art. 23 of the Russian Constitution, ECHR Art. 8). However, the Operator must respond to:
- justified requests from competent authorities;
- user reports;
- automatically detected violations (e.g. in public channels and known illegal-content uploads).
2. Prohibited content
The Service prohibits content unlawful under applicable law, including:
- material promoting terrorism or extremism;
- child sexual abuse material (CSAM) — zero tolerance, immediate referral to law enforcement;
- material promoting drugs, violence, suicide;
- illegal goods and services;
- hate speech based on race, nationality, religion, gender, orientation;
- threats, stalking, harassment;
- spam, fraud, phishing, malware;
- IP infringement (copyright, trademarks);
- third-party personal data without consent (doxing).

3. Reporting
Any user may report content via:
- the "Report" button in the message/profile UI;
- email: abuse@lighchat.app or legal@lighchat.app.
In a report, please include:
- a link or identifier of the content/user;
- the basis (violation category);
- desired action (removal, user block).
4. Review procedure
Response time:
- CSAM, terrorism, direct threats to life — within 24 hours;
- other violations — within 7 business days.
Possible actions:
- warning;
- content removal;
- temporary feature restrictions;
- account block;
- referral to authorities.
5. Appeals
A user subject to action may appeal by emailing legal@lighchat.app. Appeals are reviewed within 14 business days.
6. Transparency
The Operator publishes an annual transparency report with aggregated statistics on requests, removals and blocks: [planned].
