Delete your LighChat account
You can delete your LighChat account and its data at any time, from the app or from the web version. No request or approval is needed — deletion is immediate and irreversible.
In the mobile app (iOS, Android)
- Open Settings.
- Go to Account → Delete account.
- Confirm deletion. You may be asked to sign in again for security.
On the web
- Sign in at lighchat.online.
- Open Settings → Privacy.
- Choose Delete account and confirm.
What gets deleted
- your profile: name, username, avatar, bio, email and phone number;
- your messages, media, files and voice notes stored on our servers;
- contacts, block list, starred messages and chat settings;
- device sessions and end-to-end encryption keys published from your devices;
- push tokens — notifications stop immediately.
Timelines
- messages and media are removed from production systems within 30 days;
- encrypted backups are rotated, so copies may persist for up to 90 days after that;
- security and access logs are kept for up to 12 months;
- messages you already sent to other people remain in their chats — we cannot delete data from someone else’s device;
- abuse and moderation records may be kept for up to 24 months where we have a legal basis.
Export your data first
Deletion cannot be undone. If you want a copy of your data, use Settings → Privacy → Export data before deleting the account.
If you cannot sign in
Write to privacy@lighchat.online from the email address linked to the account, or state the phone number used for sign-in. We verify ownership before deleting anything and respond within 30 days.
